The Start
Ruth Smith is the founder and director of Focus Learning Academy,. Dr. Smith received a B.S. in Exceptional Student Education from the University of Miami, an M.S. in Exceptional Student Education from Florida International University, and is certified in all areas of ESE. In 2024,. Ruth Smith received her doctorate degrees in Learning Sciences from University of Miami. She recently retired from Miami Dade County Public Schools in 2015, after serving students for 35 years. Simultaneously, she has owned her own private company for the past 30 years. Dr. Smith is truly passionate about the education of today's youth and their preparation for the future. Upon entering the facility, each child is given an initial assessment to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Every child receives a tailored assessment from Dr. Smith to identify their unique strengths and needs, ensuring that whether they're preparing for a test or working towards a diploma, Focus Learning Academy is the perfect place for them to thrive and succeed!

At Focus, we are passionate about your child's safety! From the moment they step into our facility, each child is signed in and remains within the watchful eyes of our dedicated teachers and staff. We ensure they are cared for throughout their session until they are safely signed out by a parent or guardian. Each student has a personalized file containing essential information and emergency contacts, so we're always prepared to prioritize their well-being! Our enthusiastic tutors have undergone thorough testing in their subjects to match each student with the perfect mentor who will inspire them to excel and reach their goals. Every tutor has passed a comprehensive background check and is trained to provide personalized support, maximizing the potential of each session.
