The Start
Ruth Smith, founder and director of Focus Learning Academy, a B.S. and M.S. in Exceptional Student Education and a doctorate in Learning Sciences from the University Miami. After 35 years with Miami D County Public Schools, she has dedicated 30 years to her private company, driven by a passion for youth education. Each child at Focus Learning Academy undergoes an initial to identify their strengths and needs, ensuring personalized support for their academic success.
Child Safety
your child's safety is our priority! Each child is signed in upon arrival and supervised by our dedicated staff until they are signed out by a parent or guardian. We maintain personalized files with essential information and emergency contacts to ensure their well-being. Our enthusiastic tutors have passed background checks and are matched with students to inspire their success. Let’s begin this exciting learning journey together!
Our Individualized Services Include Online and In-Person Tutoring:
Reading / Writing - Students participate in activities such as comprehension, word recognition, and vocabulary to help increase their academic abilities.
Algebra I & II / Geometry / Calculus - Students will learn new approaches and practice mathematical skills for mastery.
Study Skills/Learning Strategies-Students will be equipped with various strategies that are applicable in different learning situations and environments.
FAST / FSA / EOC - We prepare students for various state assessment completion in all grade levels and subjects.
SAT / ACT - We prepare high school students planning to continue their education at a college or university with critical thinking skills and strategies to improve college board math, grammar, and verbal skills for the Scholastic Aptitude Test and the American College Test.
GED - Students are supplied with the information and strategies needed to successfully take the Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies portions of the GED test.
Home Schooling - We offer a complete Home School Program via Florida Virtual School Online. Students are required to master all state goals and objectives as mandated by the CBC (Content Based Curriculum) and Common Core Standards for each grade level. End of Year Evaluation Provided.
